“Throughout the entire year of 2013, when I was completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Technology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, I had the privilege of doing my internship at Sucatas Pinto, a company which has an accreditation from the National Waste Institute to collect, recycle and later recover ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as end-of-life vehicles.

Above all, what I did was to study and research the entire process through which an End-of-Life Vehicle goes through, from the moment it enters into a Disposal Centre. The necessary conditions, recycling solutions and, of course, the way in which they are managed on an economical, environmental and legal level.

The company gave all the resources I needed to carry out my work and all the people I worked with behaved exceptionally towards me. The entire internship was essential for my professional and personal growth. It allowed me to have my first real contact with the work world and the experience matched my expectations completely. It was vitally important for my post-academic future. “
